PULMONARY REHABILITATION: IS IT FOR YOU?

Westfield, MA - Do you become short of breath simply by walking a short distance, climbing a flight of steps, or by carrying packages? Do you become anxious or frightened due to your shortness of breath? You are not alone. More than 35 million Americans are like you and suffer from a respiratory disease. Help is available through Pulmonary Rehabilitation, which provides training and education that can improve your ability to carry out normal daily chores and tasks as well as participate in modest recreational activities.

The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Department at Noble Hospital offers a program lasting 8-12 weeks that includes exercise, counseling and education. The program begins with a thorough assessment of your present health and an evaluation of how well you are performing your daily activities. Rehab continues with training on breathing techniques, relaxation strategies and cardiovascular endurance. The comprehensive program is completed with nutritional counseling, smoking cessation guidance - if needed and plenty of opportunity to socialize and meet others facing the same challenges.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation can improve your functioning and your state of mind. For more information on how Pulmonary Rehab can help you, please call the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Department at Noble Hospital at (413) 572 - 5083. Please note that a physician's referral is needed to join this program.
